About Six Line Design
Six Line Design began as a weekend hobby decades ago, combining an engineering degree and a family lineage of artists to create personal furniture and wall art projects. Over time, after running out of space, friends began to lament about how they can never find high quality furniture that meets their needs. Common threads began to emerge:
- Ikea is made from cheap materials, meant to be used for a few years and then replaced.
- West Elm/Pottery Barn: Pricing doesn’t live up to the quality of the goods, focusing more on buzzwords rather than durable furniture.
- Boutique Stores: Higher quality (usually) products but with a large price increase.
Additionally, every brick-and-mortar store lacks a key factor – a personal touch:
- Final products designed to meet exact dimensions for the client
- One-on-one customer support directly from the designer and builder
It was apparent that the market needed a better solution – furniture using high quality materials, custom built to the clients’ exact measurements and needs. This is why Six Line Design was created.
Six Line Design knows that each client is different – some know exactly what they want, while others need to start from the beginning. When needed, Six Line Design will talk with the client to find out exactly what they really need; this includes photos and video calls to examine the surrounding interior space, to see how the piece will fit in with their current décor.
Using 3D CAD modeling software, Six Line Design can produce high resolution renderings of each piece to the client prior to building. This allows them to better visualize how the final product will look in the final location.
For instance, a client came to Six Line Design needing a bookcase to store various children’s toys and books, but didn’t know where to start. With a photo from the client of the existing space, Six Line Design created a handful of diverse designs to get a feel for what would fit best in the space
From there, revisions were made until a tricolor design using walnut, maple, and mahogany was designed, resulting in the final product, turning a cluttered corner into a beautiful and functional statement piece.
